Hey, so I was just surfing and I got banned by Ember. The ban page says "obvious norecoil is obvious" which I don't really understand. If someone could explain to me or unban me please, I'd really appreciate it. I've been playing in this server for a little under two weeks now and I really enjoy it and the people that play there, and I even bought basic admin today so I could help out with campers/spawn killers/etc. and I can absolutely guarantee that I don't have hacks of any sort. From what I've heard, people spectate me occasionally and nobody has ever had any complaints against me, and I was banned with no warning.
I'm not going to be apart of this but, I would just like to point out that you do use some sort of hacks/scripts because you've been picked up on [SMAC] for auto-trigger Bunnyhop. Please explain to us what you use, if you do not mind.
I won't lie about using bhop scripts because I'm absolute garbage at bhopping and setting jump to my mouse wheel never really worked out for me. If you'd like I could post the script that I'm using for proof. But I'd like to say that if it makes any difference, I had my time with hacking in CS:S a couple years ago. I'm a Computer Science major in college and I even dedicated one of my final projects to a CS:S hack. But I really feel that it takes away the challenge of the game, which is the funnest part. I'm a good surfer, and I'm relatively good at regular maps and gameplay, I just fail at bhopping so I use a script. Aside from my auto-buy scripts, that's the only 'illegal' script or anything that I use.
I was going to unban you, but then my permissions said that I couldn't. I recommend you lose the scripts (no matter how bad your bhopping is) and you never mention "You hacked beforehand" on any servers. It's not helping your case, if anything, it's making it worse. I'll talk it over with Espeon to see if he would be kind enough to remove the ban.
You know.. Just because you are not any good at bhopping shouldn't even make you consider using a script as the fun part is to master that skill alone. I assume Ember is a coder from what it says on the admin chain of command list, and he probably spotted your scripts from that point. As for a unban, noone of us except administrators with root access can help you since a root admin banned you. Wait as Furchee said for him to talk with Espeon to unban you.
@Furchee If being dishonest about my prior experience with CS:S and the hacks people use in it is what it takes to be unbanned, then I'll gladly stay banned. I'm more upset about the loss of some aquaintances than some $5 I paid for admin. @ahmetalp I'm not suggesting that bhop scripts are a good solution to my bad skill, but it's not like I'm the only one using scripts like that and everyone should know that. The point is, bhop scripts shouldn't have led Ember to believe that I had some inexistant no-recoil hacks.
Oh, so it wasn't only the script that got you banned.. I see. No recoil hacks? Never heard of it, we will just have to wait on Espeon, Ownage or Ember's reply to sort this out.
Sometimes you need to be dishonest, yes. Don't get me wrong, I adore the fact you're telling the truth. A couple posts back I mentioned there's nothing I appreciate more from a person than him/her telling me the honest solid truth. If it was completely up to me, I would unban you for your honesty. Most admins however, wouldn't care about your honesty and rather just ban you for even mentioning the word hacking in your past time. Also, the excuse for you not being the only person using a b-hop script is not a "get away with it plan". (Not saying you are !!!) I agree, there's many others that use scripts, but that is NOT a reason for you to do so too. I used to use scripts as well. Then I realized "Hey, why ? Why step down to their level ?" If I can live without scripts, you can to. Better yourself and spend time bhopping (alone, if needed) to get the technique down to an art. Keep in mind, you can never be perfect @ it. So don't aim for that.
I'd just like to make a final statement before a verdict is reached by the lead admins. I acknowledge my bunnyhopping scripts, and have since removed them from my autoexec. I didn't mean to cause any harm or make anyone upset, and I really wish only the best for the server (seeing as it's really the only one I play on anymore). As much or little as it means, it's on my word that I will never use any scripts (and especially never any hacks) in the server, and if I'm unbanned I will play with nothing more than the assistance of my mouse and keyboard. I'm merely asking for one more chance to prove myself.
